Texas Supreme Court
Service Animal Case
A young child was severely injured in a restaurant by a dog presented to the public as a service animal. The case became more than a dog-bite lawsuit when the defense argued that claims against the physician who wrote service-animal letters for the dog’s owner should be treated as health care liability claims.
The Texas Supreme Court allowed the claims to move forward, clarifying that not every claim involving a physician is automatically a medical malpractice claim. The decision preserved the family’s access to court and created important guidance for future Texas cases.
What should have been an ordinary rideshare trip became a serious safety incident when a driver pulled a firearm and injured a passenger.
The matter reflects the firm’s work in select personal injury cases where everyday services, public spaces, or trusted relationships become the setting for preventable harm.
A motel security case became a test of accountability after a vulnerable client suffered catastrophic injuries at the hands of an unlicensed security guard. The matter raised serious questions about hiring, supervision, and the use of force against people on the property.
The case resolved confidentially, but it remains an example of the firm’s willingness to pursue difficult matters involving disputed liability, vulnerable clients, and serious harm.
Medical treatment requires trust. In this matter, a woman sought physical therapy after a serious ankle injury and alleges that the professional responsible for her care sexually assaulted her during treatment.
The case highlights how vulnerable patients can be when misconduct occurs inside a setting that is supposed to be safe. Through civil litigation and public advocacy, the matter has helped draw attention to patient safety, professional accountability, and the importance of survivors coming forward.
